Xact Accounting welcomes former Master Builders Queensland CEO, Paul Bidwell as Strategic Industry Advisor
Xact Accounting is pleased to announce the appointment of Paul Bidwell as Strategic Industry Advisor to its Advisory Board.
Paul joins the Xact Group after almost 17 years with Master Builders Queensland, the peak body representing close to 9,000 businesses across the state’s building and construction industry. He stepped down as Chief Executive Officer in 2026, having led the organisation since 2022 and previously served as Deputy CEO and Director of Housing Policy.
For anyone who works in construction, Paul’s name needs little introduction. His time at the helm of Master Builders coincided with one of the toughest periods the industry has faced: trade shortages, rising material costs, a deepening housing shortage and the most ambitious building targets Queensland has ever set. Through all of it, he was a steady and persistent voice for builders, advocating to government on the issues that shape whether a building business can plan, price and get paid with confidence.
It is precisely this understanding of the forces shaping construction businesses that Xact Accounting wants at its Board level.
Xact works with building and construction businesses every day, and we see how much of a builder’s success is decided by forces outside the job site: regulation, policy, industry conditions and the wider economic picture. Paul has spent his career inside those forces, shaping them on behalf of the people who build. His understanding of how the industry works, from the practical realities on site to the policy settings that govern it, will sharpen the advice and support we offer our clients.
Mick Renton, Xact CEO said,
“Paul understands the building industry from the inside out, from the pressures on site to the policy decisions made in Brisbane and Canberra. Our clients are in the construction industry, and having someone of Paul’s calibre on our Advisory Board means we can bring an even deeper understanding of their world to the advice we give. We could not be happier to welcome him.”
Paul said he was looking forward to the new role. “I’ve spent most of my career working alongside builders and fighting for their interests, so joining a firm that is genuinely focused on this industry feels like a natural alignment, and a chance to keep contributing to the industry in a meaningful way. Xact understands the people it works for, and I’m looking forward to helping the team keep building on that.”
We are delighted to welcome Paul to the Board and look forward to the contribution he will make to Xact and to the clients we serve.
