It is with profound sadness that we share the news of the sudden passing of our colleague, partner, and dear friend, Dylan Eve, following a fatal motor vehicle accident on 8 April 2026. Dylan was 31 years old.
Our deepest condolences go to Dylan’s wife and children, and to his wider circle of friends and family. We are holding you close during this unimaginable time.
The loss of his humour, his talent, and the way he connected with everyone around him will be felt across our industry and the Xact family for a very long time.
There are people who leave a mark on every room they walk into, every client they meet, and every person lucky enough to work alongside them. Dylan was one of those people.
This tribute is one of the small ways we will be honouring our friend and colleague.
Dylan came to Xact with a strong grounding in public practice, having spent time at Jones Howard Chartered Accountants, RSM Australia, and Carbon Group before joining us in November 2023 as an Associate Client Director. He was appointed to the partnership within his first 13 months, a reflection of his exceptional talent, the impact he had on our clients, and the respect he commanded from his team.
Dylan specialised in building and construction businesses and understood the sector the way an operator does, not just as a compliance adviser. In his first full year as partner, he doubled the number of clients under his care and built a team of more than 20 people. What made that growth remarkable was not just the pace of it, but the fact that it came without a single compromise on quality. Every client was looked after. Every relationship was real. That ability to scale without losing the personal touch was rare, and it was unmistakably Dylan.
Dylan had a unique ability to connect with people regardless of their background. He understood what they needed and found a way of reducing the distance between adviser and client, so people knew they were working with someone who was genuinely in their corner. Working in a demanding sector like construction, his clients did not just feel looked after; they were measurably better off for having him involved, and that mattered to him deeply.
The impact Dylan had on his clients went beyond their financial position. Many became close friends, just as eager to catch up on personal matters as they were to talk business.
For the team at Xact, Dylan was someone people genuinely enjoyed working with, whether as a partner, across our different teams, or within his own. He had a quick wit that was as fast as his technical mind, and he used both generously. He had a genuine interest in and was committed to nurturing talent in his team and enjoyed the highest respect and commitment in return. He fostered a culture where the work was taken extremely seriously but the people never took themselves that way. The loyalty Dylan inspired in both his team and his clients speaks for itself, with many following him across firms and staying with him over many years.
Outside of work, Dylan was committed to fitness and his beloved Melbourne Storm and keen supporter of his second team, the Brisbane Broncos – but most of all, his world revolved around his family. He was a proud and devoted husband and father – speaking freely and often about their lives together.
Shortly after Dylan joined Xact, I used to say quietly to myself that I wished I could clone him. Thinking about it now, I think what I really meant was that people like Dylan do not come twice. He went about everything in such a calm and considered way. He was wise well beyond his years.
In the last 50 hours I have read many texts, emails and cards. They all follow a similar theme. Everyone so respected his dedication, his knowledge, and his humility.
Dylan was made a partner very fast because it was obvious to me early on that he was everything and more that you want in a business partner. He could handle the most complex technical problems in the room and then make everyone laugh five minutes later.
Dylan did not just grow our firm. He shaped its soul. In the days since we lost him, what has struck me most is not the volume of messages, but what they share. Every one of them speaks to how Dylan made people feel, seen, respected, and better for knowing him. That is a rare thing. We were extraordinarily lucky to have had him, and I know I speak for everyone at Xact when I say that he will not just be remembered. He will be missed every single day.
