Karshen Moodley is an Associate Client Director in Xact’s Advisory and Financial Control division, with close to a decade in the accounting industry and a B.Bus (Accounting). He has worked across construction, health, real estate and e-commerce, delivering financial and advisory services to owners in each.
In Financial Control, his week runs on a rhythm. Month-end close. Job costing and WIP. Cost-to-complete against original estimate. Budgets, forecasts, and performance tracking, built the way a construction business actually runs rather than the way a generic template says it should.
He scopes and directs the preparation work, reviews it, and signs it off. Then comes the part that matters most: sitting with the owner and working through what the numbers are saying. Which jobs are carrying the business and which are quietly eating margin. Where cash is going to be tight in thirteen weeks. What to do about it now, while there is still room to act.
That is where his approach shows. Karshen is direct about wanting clients to understand their own numbers, not just receive them. Trust, transparency and clear communication are not soft extras in this work. An owner who does not follow the reporting will not use it, and reporting nobody uses does not change anything.
The sector range helps too. Cash cycles, margin structures and reporting pressures look different in e-commerce than they do on a residential build. Having seen several, he reads a business quickly and asks better questions earlier.
Outside work, Karshen spends his time with family and is deep in sport, watching it, playing it, or arguing about it.
